The Ghan Expedition Train & East Coast Cruise

Sydney – Darwin - Adelaide

This is a rare opportunity to embark ‘Crown Princess’ in Sydney to cruise via Brisbane, Port Douglas and Cairns to Darwin. ‘Crown Princess’ is a comfortable 4-star cruise ship with all the bells and whistles to entertain you for nine nights of luxury. We enjoy five nights in Darwin, the Northern Territory Capital including Litchfield and Kakadu National Parks. We then board the legendary Ghan Expedition Train and travel through the heart of Australia which includes ever-changing landscapes, meals, drinks and off-train excursions in Katherine, Alice Springs and Coober Pedy.

An early morning start for the drive to Litchfield National Park. The gorgeous, historical town of Batchelor is the gateway to Litchfield National Park. This morning, depart Darwin and travel along the Arnhem Highway, passing major river systems and wetland regions into Kakadu National Park. Return to Darwin late evening.

The international-acclaimed Kakadu is an enormous, unique natural reserve with wetlands, rivers, sandstone escarpments, and waterfalls and is home to more than 20,000 plant species, crocodiles, flatback turtles and exotic birdlife.

Luggage

  • Checked-in luggage is not accessible during the train journey. Pack your cabin bag with the essentials for the three nights on The Ghan.

Health and Mobility

  • A good standard of fitness is required for this tour. The ability to walk unaided for 1Km metres is essential. The train is unstable while travelling, therefore you need to be firm-of-foot. 
  • Mobility frames are not practical or permitted. 
  • It is expected you will arrive on tour fit, healthy and ready to travel.
