Murray River Cruise

Monday 13 October

Depart on Air New Zealand to arrive into Adelaide late morning. Enjoy a city sights tour before arriving at your inner-city hotel. An afternoon to relax before a welcome dinner tonight to mix and mingle.

Tuesday 14 October

This morning we have a walking tour of the Adelaide Markets. Enjoy a taste of the local produce and meeting the local vendors. Free time this afternoon to further explore the city centre.

Wednesday 15 October

After breakfast we travel to the famous D’Arenberg Cube which sits in the centre of Mourvèdre vines for a tour, tasting and lunch. This afternoon we continue onto Cape Jervis ferry terminal for an afternoon crossing to Kangaroo Island. 

Thursday 16 October

Today takes us west for a Kingsgate town tour. We then enjoy a lunch at the Kangaroo Island Spirits Distillery before continuing onto the Raptor Domian to take in their birds of prey show and tour. Return to our hotel late afternoon. 

Friday 17 October

We start the day with a return ferry trip to the mainland, then travel via Victor Harbour, before arriving at Mannum mid-afternoon where we board the PS Murray Princess. This evening we cruise downriver under floodlight to our overnight mooring at Mundurra. Watch for kangaroos, hairy-nosed wombats, tortoises, egrets and many other species. 

Saturday 18 October

After a hearty breakfast, choose to join a guided tour of the town’s historic landmarks and local attractions included, or, at additional cost go on an optional wildlife tour at Monarto Safari Park. This afternoon, we continue our journey upriver and tonight we moor at Salt Bush Flat. 

Optional Tour MONARTO SAFARI PARK WILDLIFE TOUR (additional cost) AUD$75 Monarto Safari Park, the largest Safari Park outside of Africa spanning more than 1,500 hectares and home to more than 50 species of exotic and native mammals, birds and reptiles. For example Giraffe, Eland, Zebra, White Rhinoceros, Cheetah, Lions, Hyena, and African Painted Dogs. You will also pass through the Asian Grasslands offering a chance to catch a glimpse of Indian Antelope, Mesopotamian Deer, Black Rhino, American Bison, red Deer, Przewalksi Horse and Scimitar-horned Oryx.

Sunday 19 October

This morning, join a guided nature walk where our guide will share the secrets of the local flora and fauna. Near Fromms Landing, we turn and head downriver to River View Lodge where your discovery vessel awaits for a wildlife tour. Travelling in small, personalised groups, we explore the river and the birdlife is amazing.  Watch for darters, herons and egrets feeding along the river’s muddy edges. The afternoon offers a choice of bocce or fishing challenges before a delicious final night dinner.

Monday 20 October

This morning we head back to Mannum and after breakfast, say farewell to the Murray Princess. We travel back to Adelaide via Hahndorf where we enjoy a two-course lunch at the Haus Restaurant with time to explore the village shops.  We continue onto our waterfront accommodation in the seaside suburb of Glenelg. 

Tuesday 21 October

Today a free day to follow your own interests or at an additional cost take the optional full day tour out to Barossa wine region. Why not take a tram back to the city centre or enjoy lunch at one of the many restaurants on the waterfront. Tonight we enjoy a farewell dinner.

Optional Tour BAROSSA VALLEY full day tour (additional cost) AUD$230 - Enjoy a full day food and wine journey to South Australia’s premium wine region, the Barossa. Take time to sample some of the Barossa’s finest wines. A delicious lunch is provided amongst the vines before a final stop at the Barossa Valley Chocolate company. Arrive back at our hotel late afternoon. 

Wednesday 22 October

Transfer to the airport for a late morning departure. Welcome home.
