Niue

“Polynesia as it was”

Niue, the world’s largest uplifted coral atoll and the world’s smallest independent nation, is an uncrowded, untouristy slice of Polynesia. Niue offers a relaxed, nature-based holiday. It is an unexpected land with genuinely friendly people. A rugged shoreline circles a heavily forested central region and the island is surrounded by an ocean that is quite spectacular with crystal clear waters and an abundance of marine life. Whether you’re snorkelling, fishing or simply gazing at the ocean while enjoying a cool drink, the water clarity will amaze you. With a population of less than 1500 people, you will know half of the island before you leave. Why not join us to this little-visited island?

Advantages of our escorted tour

Niue is a spectacular, rugged, tropical island. There are numerous optional activities available as listed above, but without any public transport it can be challenging to travel around the island.  In addition, local knowledge (and our own transport) is key for your chosen dining experience as not all cafes are open 7 days a week.

Included in our escorted tour

  • two experienced escorts
  • two mini vans at our disposal to use to travel around the island. Our tour escorts will be happy to shuttle you around to visit the four corners of the island
  • reservations at local restaurants to provide a range of dining experiences
  • recommendations for any optional activities
  • optional swimming with the whales, snorkelling trips and fishing charter tours
  • ( including all transfers )

Niue, the beautiful Pacific Island, is known for its stunning crystal-clear waters, making it an incredible spot for whale watching. From July to October, humpback whales migrate through these waters, offering a breath-taking spectacle. Massive humpback whales gracefully glide through the deep blue sea, occasionally breaching or slapping their tails against the water’s surface. It’s a mesmerizing sight and swimming with the whales leaves a lasting impression on anyone lucky enough to witness it first-hand. A good level of fitness and the ability to swim comfortably in the ocean is required.

Tonight, we celebrate our final night together with a traditional Niuean Umu Buffet. A night to remember.

Optional Snorkelling Trip approx. $160 per person ( 3 hours – limited numbers )

Niue’s crystal-clear waters are home to various marine life, including spinner dolphins and bottlenose dolphins. There is a resident Spinner Dolphin population in Niue all year round, so if we encounter them we quite often offer swim with them alongside the boat as part of our snorkel tour (dolphins are not guaranteed but a bonus!).  On average across the 3 hour tour you would expect to spend approx half that time in the water, the additional time is used for sightseeing. You must be fit and a capable snorkeller to enjoy this tour.
